What is a blog anyway? Well, it is some kind of personal diary but don’t write your diary there if you don’t want the whole world to know what you’re up to. Just write about your thoughts and feelings about a topic. It is essentially a web site where you write keyword-rich content and put advertisements for your readers to click so you can earn money from it.

What can you do with WordPress.com ? This is designed so you can have a blog set up within minutes. You don’t have to deal with a lot of database. You just sign up with your name and password. But let me tell you this. While it is an excellent way to start blogging for free, when you get big and want to expand, you may not be able to use your old blog.

Why, you asked? Well, it’s because you don’t own it. That is why I decided to have my wordpress blog hosted by an outside host. Not only that, their term of agreement specifies that you cannot direct to third parties and that means no affiliate links! It will cost you a bit but not as much as others will charge you. Anyway, sooner or later, you will have to have a website, you might as well do it the right way. Besides if you can’t put your affiliate links, you can’t make money online_9.

I combed the internet to get the best deal available and I came up with http://hostgator.com hostgator.com They charge $8.95 a month except for the first month when they charge an extra $3. That is not a bad deal when you think of the big picture of owning your own business.

But before setting up the wordpress blog, you will have to register your domain name. The best and cheapest way to do this is through http://www.godaddy.com/ http://www.godaddy.com godaddy.com where you can buy a .us domain for $4.99. In the long run though, it’s better to get a .com domain.

Then you have to change the DNS or domain nameservers at godaddy.com to those that Hostgator mentioned in their welcome email to you. Sometimes it takes a few hours or days before you can see this in the web. Once it’s there you can install WordPress. Just go to yourdomain.com/cpanel. There will be instructions there as to how to install WordPress when you click Fantastico.

But if you don’t want to do it this way, go ahead and just use the free wordpress blog. I just tell you about the ramification so that you will enter into this with eyes wide open. So with that taken cared of, let’s go to the Users and Options where we can set up the profile with the name of your blog, the author’s name and how you can be contacted.

Then go to the Presentation panel where you can choose from several themes. Then finally, you can start writing your blog. Go ahead and write a paragraph on any topic you want. I will wait for you here. ….Done? Well now you are officially a blogger. Congratulations! Hopefully you can now start to make money online_9.

Make money online_8 entails a lot of work but accept the fact that anything good needs work. This is not a get-rich-quick scheme. This is the real thing, the true business that will help earn some money for you. There are so many offers out there that promise the moon but most of the time you will find that you have just lost money on them. Here are the steps we followed so far:

Once you get there, there are four choices to do before creating a blog. You can either learn more by taking a quick tour, watch a video tutorial, discover more features and read blogger buzz. It is good to go through them so you will know how to go about your blog and eventually make money online_8.

You can tell from that page that this is free to use where you can share whatever you want to share with the world, be it your photos and thoughts. Google has made it easy to use this platform. The possibilities are limitless for there are themes and gadgets you can use. And on top of this, you can earn money from this with Google ads. Now you’ll believe you can make money online_8.

Step 7 is getting a blog going. What in heaven’s name is a blog? Well, a blog is a sort of website that a person maintains by regularly posting entries in the form of commentaries, graphics, diaries, videos and description of events. In other words, on anything you want to write about.

The beauty of the blog is that the readers could leave comments. Besides, setting up a blog and a list is part of the strategy of being able to promote and create sales for whatever you want to sell. You will have to get as many people as you can to sign up to your blog. This way, you will be starting to build a list which is an essential component in order to make money online_7.

Usually what people do to make a sale is to advertise. The trouble with this is that people will go directly to the site where you want to sell something. Make money online_6 is Part Six of the continuing saga on how to earn money on the web. I bet you didn’t know it would take so many steps, did you? There are quite a few but if you persevere, you will get there somehow. Don’t get discouraged and just keep plugging away like I did and I still do.

Let us recap the steps we’ve had to do:

Keep checking the summary of these steps so that you can assess where you are at any given time. After you have done all the five steps, you are ready to submit your articles to the article directories. Are you feeling intimidated with all these steps? Don’t be because it is not difficult to do. Here’s how to do it. Click any of the links to go to the directory of choice. There you can click on create an account. They will ask you questions as to your name, address, telephone number, email address, your choice of a user name and password.

They will then tell you to go to the email address in your application to click the link to the article directory you applied to. This is to check whether you are human or a robot which abounds in the web, making it difficult for honest folks like you and me.

After you have done that, they will tell you if you are now a member or some will make you wait because they will study your application before approving it. Once they approve you, you can start submitting articles there and start to make money online_6.

Submit to ezinearticles before going to the others as it provides the most traffic. There are two schools of thought regarding submitting the same article to all the article directories. One school says, don’t do it because Google frowns on duplicate content yet there are gurus who encourage submitting the same to all directories. If this sounds intimidating, don’t worry. I can show you this in detail.

This is the procedure in submitting your article to ezine articles. Login to the member area by signing in with your user name and password. There you will see the template for submitting articles. Select the category and subcategory of your article. Put in the title of your article on the space provided.

Then you write down the keywords in your article with which the search engine will find you. The abstract is next which is nothing but a teaser of your article consisting of two or three sentences. Another word for it is a blurb. Some article directories do not ask for this. Next comes the article body which you just copy and paste from your original copy.

You will then write a resource box in the last section of the template. It is essentially a link where you want your reader to go so they can see your affiliate product. There you have the sixth step on how to make money online_6.

Make money online_5 keeps us moving along but let us recap what we have been through. I hope that for step 1, you have found a profitable niche and that in step 2 you found the questions and problems people have in this topic. Step 3 guided us into the choice of an affiliate product from Clickbank that will help solve the problems identified in Step 2.

Step 4 will even move us farther along for here we will learn to find three keyphrases that will help us with the marketing of the Clickbank products we selected. For this we will use the free tool from Google. It is at https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal.

How do you do this? I thought you’d never ask. But truly, you’re lucky you have me to guide you through these steps without any fluff and ulterior motive. In fact, I wish there was someone like me to guide me along like I am doing for you. I would have saved a lot of time.

Anyway, back to https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal. Go ahead, copy and paste it into your web browser. The tool will appear and whatever is your choice of topic and skill, type it in on the keyword search field. Let’s use what we identified before which is guitar playing. Then choose the top three keyword phrases which you will use in Step 5.

What is Step 5, you asked? Is there no end to the steps? It is hard work, isn’t it? Well, I never promised you a rose garden. Step 5 is nothing but writing articles using the keywords you identified in Step 4. These articles are what will help promote the products you identified in Step 3. You will let these articles find the perspective buyers for those products.

This is the step that people find the hardest. Let’s face it, some people just don’t like to write. But even though you may not want to write, this is only a challenge that has a solution. What is the solution? Simple, just outsource it. Get someone else write the articles for you. I will give you some names in a minute.

If you love to write then you got it made. Write a compelling article though that will make the readers want to buy your affiliate product. Again, if you need some hand holding on this, just let me know. I have some tricks in my sleeves to help you on your way.

Another way is to go to Mechanical Turk where you can request for a writer to write for you. I checked them out but one who did submit an article to me just copied it online. This will get you in trouble because Google frowns on duplicate content. But again, you may get lucky here and they could be cheap.

When you write the article, use the keyword phrase you identified in Step 4. Each article has to be focused on one keyword phrase and should be repeated a number of times depending on the length of the article. Some say it should be repeated once every 100 words.

This article is just to presell, some kind of teaser and not a sales page. There you have the first five steps. The next time we meet, I will take you to step 6 and it is about how to use those articles to sell the affiliate product you have. There are things to do to make money online_5.

Make money online_4 will concentrate on how to choose a Clickbank product that will easily sell. Remember the step-by-step plan we are following? First is to choose a profitable topic. Then find what are the problems the people who belong to this topic are asking. And now for the third step, we will look for products that will help solve their problems.

To find the profitable products, there are tips to follow:

• 1. Determine in what area of the chosen topic are you most interested in and the skills you have. If your topic is about music, do you know how to play the guitar? It is important that you know something about the topic of your choice. It will be easier to market something that you know about. So type in guitar playing in the keyword search field at Clickbank’s market place. There is a tool that will make this easier that I will tell you about it later.
• 2. After selecting some products, check their sale’s history. Are they moving forward? Which product has its gravity growing every week? If it is, then it is a sign that this is a product that will be in your short list and maybe one you will work on first. Keep finding out each product’s sales history.
• 3. Does the product have a high return rate? If it has more than 50% return rate, you should not waste time working on it. The one you should be working on should have a return rate lower than 10%.
• 4. Check the pages of the merchants and assess them as to quality that will entice sales. You should read the whole sales letter to see if is compelling enough for you to want to buy it. Because if you do, then your market will want to buy it too. Assess the merchants pages if they are well-designed to the point that you will want to read them and easy to navigate to lead you to the order button. You would not want a page with too many links that will distract your customers.
• 5. You can even contact the vendor to see if he can help you market his product. Maybe he has articles you can rewrite. Perhaps he will give you the keyword to help with your search at Google and the other search engines. A vendor who is willing to help and work with you will be a benefit.

There you have the five tips that will help you with your research on what products to pick that you can promote to the targeted market you found in Steps 1 and 2. There is a Clickbank Engine which will help speed the process. It is a top finder and analyzer tool.

To find the problem people have in Step 2, go to the forums of the topic you chose. Search for the chosen topic + forum and you will get a list to check out. The first ten choices are the busiest forum. Try to sign up there and find out what people are asking and talking about.

You can also do a search in Google Groups and Yahoo Groups on the topic of your choice and find communities that will assure you that the audience you’re targeting is reachable online and that there are people there who have desperate problems on your topic. This will assure you that there is a market for the niche that you have chosen in step 1.

Only after the above are to your satisfaction that you can make money online_3, are we ready to move on to Step 3. What is step 3, you asked? To put simply, this step involves finding a product that will solve the problems you found in Step 2. I think it’s time to do a recap, don’t you?

Now this is the fun part. We will find a product we can sell and not a physical product for now but a digital one. I don’t know though if we can finish this topic during this session because I have been told not to go over 500 words.

One thing for sure, once you find the right products, they will lead to sales assuming that you will do this step and the other steps diligently. I remember feeling ecstatic when I made my first sale there. I thought I had died and had gone to heaven. That was proof to me that it is possible to make money online_3.

Okay, here’s what we are going to do. We will start with the five tips on choosing the affiliate link at Clickbank next time because I hate to start with one and not finish the rest. Remember, anytime you get stuck on any of these steps, you can call on me but if you need help, I will have to charge you a measly $10 an hour.

Compared to the top gurus, that’s miniscule because they charge anywhere from $500 up. The only reason I will charge you is because I will have to stop working on my website and that will make me lose some money. So I hope you understand. Otherwise, just wait till you get to the rest of the steps after this one on make money online_3.

To make money online_2, I promised on the last page to tell you about conversion, that is, what products can be sold easier than others. You don’t want to waste your time and effort building traffic and just to end up with a dud.

To do this, find what is your area of interest and several products on this that look interesting. Check the sale’s history. If the momentum is growing each week, it shows promise. Find also the refund rate for if it is 60%, then it is not a product of quality that you will want to promote.

Check with the vendor to see if he will be willing to help by giving you articles to rewrite and keywords you can google. This brings us back to the last two keys which are finding products that solve problems and taking action consistently. Both are self-explanatory.

So now we are ready to take action to make money online_2 by planning how we are going to do this. Let us divide them into steps for easy understanding. Obviously, we have to start from the very beginning and go to Step 1 which is to find a profitable topic.

So there will be traffic to find to reach the audience. Find how these desperate buyers go about looking for solutions to their problem. You can evaluate what the competition does and do much more than they do, perhaps by using other forms of media like the video.

Now let’s take some time to see how we can find profitable market at amazon and some other places. Once you have a topic, find the top 100 list at Amazon and see how many books have been released on your chosen topic. If your area of expertise is there you can be sure your topic is profitable. Do the same for the magazines sold at Amazon.

Then head down to Ebay to see if they are selling some things to the same type of audience. The next stop is to find the same thing at magazines.com to see if they are selling products to the same group of buyer you have in mind.
